When people hear the word “harbour” they are not aware of the importance of maritime transport for their daily lives. With this experience, we open doors to the unknown and exotic world of maritime life and transport. The history of the port of Barcelona is closely linked to the history of the city and its economy, you will see all the resources of a large port and its capacity that has become a very important commercial and logistics center for the economy of the city. You will hace the opportunity witness the balance of a great city and a great harbor with its marine environment.
This is an activity that offers during 40′ the unique opportunity of enjoying the sea, viewing the most important icons of the port and sea front. You will visit the Maremagnum, the new Puerta de Europa Bridge (wich is an impressive drawbridge), the Clock Tower (the old lighthouse of the epoch of Carlos III and where nowadays are situated the fishing fleet docks), the Sideroploide (an abstract sculpture built in 1963, from the sculptor Salvador Aulèstia, made with recovered irons of the sea), great views of the castle and mountain of Montjuïc where there is the current lighthouse of Barcelona (inaugurated on December 1st, of 1906, wich is still working); the hotel W, and the diverse sports clubs where tie the particular boats. We pass in front of the “Moll de Llevant” (Dock of the Levant), where the new dock entrance has been opened. In addition, the itinerary also shows the commercial wharves of merchant ships and the cruises of luxury that moor in Barcelona, fourth port of the world in traffic of tourist cruises.
